What she’s good at:

Rachel Beer has worked as a direct marketer and fundraiser since 1995, encompassing business to consumer marketing, events and community fundraising, alumni relations, and several years of charity direct marketing and fundraising at agencies.

She’s worked with a wide range of charities including Arthritis Care, Breast Cancer Campaign, Diabetes UK, Guide Dogs, Mind, RNLI, RSPCA, Samaritans and World Emergency Relief.

More recently, she’s become well known as an online specialist and strategist for the third sector. She founded The Charity Place, an online community for people who work for charities and non-profit organisations and has helped to develop and launch KnowHow NonProfit. She also invented NFPtweetup – an initiative to help charities understand and get value from social media.

She’s a meticulously good fundraiser – she knows what makes people give and has an instinctive understanding of the component parts needed to create successful campaigns.  She’s a very strong creative and strategic thinker.  She’s also a generalist.  “It may not be fashionable – but I can’t help it, I get fascinated by so many challenges and hate the idea of being pigeonholed.”
